Remedies for Bee Sting

For a lot of people, a bee sting is a nuisance. If you have a bee sting, then you are most likely to experience sharp pain, swelling, redness, some warmth, and itching at the sting site, but the complications aren’t that severe.  Bee stings can be problematic for people who are allergic to bees, or they get stung multiple times, and they can even be life-threatening. The stinger is released into your skin when a honeybee stings you, and ultimately it kills the honeybee.  When the bees sting you it leaves a toxin which causes pain and other symptoms. Hence you must go for bee sting treatment if you are allergic to this toxin.

Bee sting treatment:

You may see a doctor only if you are allergic to bees or you are having any allergic reaction to the sting. Otherwise there are lots of home remedies available to treat bee sting.

  • Honey- Honey may help with wound healing, pain, and itching, so you can apply a small amount to the affected area to treat the bee stings with honey.

  • Baking soda- To neutralize bee venom and reduce pain, swelling and itching you can use baking soda and water paste. You can apply a thick paste of baking soda paste to the affected area and cover the paste with a bandage.

  • Apple cider vinegar- A few people believe that vinegar helps neutralize bee venom. Soak the place, where the bee stinged, for 15 minutes in apple cider vinegar for at least 15 minutes.

  • Toothpaste- It is not entirely clear why toothpaste can help bee stings, but many people believe that alkaline toothpaste neutralizes acidic honeybee venom.  Toothpaste won’t work on alkaline wasp venom, but toothpaste is an inexpensive and easy home remedy to try as you need to dab on the affected area.

  • Meat tenderizer- Papain can be used to break the protein which causes discomfort and pain. It is an enzyme. A solution of one-part of Papain and four-parts water can be applied for 30minutes to treat a bee sting.

Ideally, bee stings can be treated with ice or cold compresses to help reduce pain and swelling.
